I graduated with my bachelor’s in 2018. But could you guess when I have been admitted? It’s 2012.
I went to school business school. In the 2010s. the business school was the most popular to be considered as it guarantee a good job. However, I have been wandering to find THE ONE for me. most of the people asked me why I reckon so anxious about the future, but I was. (I felt like I would be in poverty when I turns 50s or over)
Anyway luckily (or just as other people believed) I had a job before I graduated. But still, I was anxious. When I saw the people in the office, there was only one woman who is working even who is over 45. Otherwise, all women who were working were in their 20s-30s and didn’t get married. For me, work and career are important for self-esteem and mental stability. But I felt like business schools never guarantee my job stability and growth in my career because I saw a lot of people who were working together didn’t have any business school diplomas. So, after 2 years, I quit. I wanted something more professional.
I decided to go back to school to study for a master of public Health. That two years for the master was so tough. Compared to the people who already have licenses as medical doctors, nurses, and pharmacists, my knowledge was lacking, and English nor French neither was my mother tongue. Every day was like a war to survive, not to get flunked.
So do you think I could have got a job directly after my graduation?
NO.
I got a bunch of automatically rejecting emails and a lot of French enterprises just ghosted. As long as the period expanded looking for a job, I lost self-confidence and self-esteem so I was thinking “Nobody wants me and I am useless”. I was digging and stayed in a cave for 1.5 years.
Some people said it could be because of my name. My Asiatic name could be automatically screened out from the online HR screening. What do you think about this?
By the way, now I got a chance to work, so I’m continuing to develop my career. what I want to say in this post, nothing is easy if you want to get out of your comfort zone. you should keep trying. As long as you don’t give up, the chance will come.
